Project Name: Nordergrunde Offshore Wind Farm, Bremerhaven, Germany

Project Overview

The contract required us to supply heavy lifting equipment from our range of stock for the Bremerhaven’s Nordergrunde Offshore Windfarm. We provided the following fully certified / DNV tested lifting equipment for the project.

• 2 x Dyneema top slings 600 tonne x 22m EWL
• 1 x 900 tonne modular spreader beam x 22 metres long dressed with drop links and 2 x 600 tonne wide-bodied sling saver shackles and 2 x 500 tonne wide-bodied sling saver shackles

We also supplied additional dyneema slings for the underside of the modular spreader beam to the monopiles etc.

The large crane on a vessel lifted the pieces into position, both onshore and offshore.

Lifting Projects UK Operations Director, Chris Turner, was instrumental in securing the contract, which ran for a total of 10 months.

In addition to supplying Nordergrunde, we’ve equipped other wind farm projects similar heavy lifting equipment, including the RWE / Gwynt y Môr: a 576-megawatt offshore wind farm based off the north coast of Wales. The world’s second largest wind farm, Gwynt y Môr has 160 wind turbines of 150 metres tip height above sea level.
