Lifting Projects UK Design and fabricate a TBM Lifting Beam
Lifting Projects UK Ltd were asked by Specialist Plant Associates Ltd; part of the Joseph GallagherGroup (JGL), to design and fabricate a TBM lifting beam. With only a photo of a beam and drawings of the TBM our design team came up with a proposal meeting the design brief set for them by JGL.
The beam with an SWL of 150t over multiple points not only had to lift the TBM but enable the TBM to be floated to the surface from the sea bed with the aid of air bags. If that wasn’t enough of a challenge the beam itself had to be of a modular design for easier export. After a successful retro fit at the TBM manufacturers plant in Germany the beam came back for testing and painting and is now ready to be shipped to the end user.
